Under the guidance of their faculty Ms. Farheen Khan, final year students from TYBSc (Food Science & Nutrition) visited various schools and junior colleges to impart awareness about the importance of healthy food and good nutrition habits amongst the young, impressionable minds. The students, armed with posters, interactive games and jingles, received a very positive response wherever they went as "ambassadors of nutrition awareness".

Still fresh from the victory of Republic Day 2020, the first week of February 2020 was brought in at Anjuman-I-Islam's Begum Jamila Haji Abdul Haq College of Home Science with great pomp and celebration in the form of the most awaited annual Inter-collegiate event in the campus- Emblazon. This year, the theme decided upon was "Meraki - Create, Nurture & Transform" The 3-day fest that culminated in prize distribution on the 3rd and final day was benevolently sponsored by Taqwa Jewellers, Olivia Cosmetics and Al-Hayat Perfumes amongst nunmerous other sponsors.

Students of SYBSc, along with volunteer students from FYBSc and TYBSc, along with the principal and faculty members, went on an educational trip to GoCheese factory, at Manchar, Pune. They started their day at 6 am, leaving from CSMT campus and reached the location by mid-day. Students got a glimpse into the manufacturing of processed cheese, as well as mechanized extraction of milk from cows done under aseptic conditions. The visitors left with minds brimming with newly acquired knowledge and gift bags full of delicious GoCheese goodies!

As part of "Entrepreneurship Development" subject, students of TYBSc (Human Ecology & Consumer Services) organized a one-day entrepreneurial market in campus grounds, under the able guidance of the subject faculty Ms. Priya Arora. The market showcased a wide variety of products - scarves, jewellery, purses, clothing, bath goods, craft items as well as eatables. It was a great opportunity for students to learn the tricks and techniques involved in manufacturing, marketing and selling goods.

As part of Nutrition Awareness Initiative, Anjuman-I-Islam's Begum Jamila Haji Abdul Haq College of Home Science observed Nutrition Week for 3 days from 23rd to 25th September 2019. Like last year, this year's event was also sponsored by Association of Food Scientists and Technologists of India (AFSTI), with a cooking demonstration for FYBSc conducted by Nestle India. Following two days of competitions- which saw huge participation from students across the campus- an extensive lecture session by eminent speakers as well as prize distribution was conducted on the third day.

As part of practical syllabus in the subject of Food Preservation, an industrial visit was planned for SYBHSc students in the month of April. The visit was held on 12th, 23rd, 24th, 26th and 30th April 2019, in batches of 25-30 students. The need for this visit was to know the processing of mineral water and to learn the functioning of a food/beverage processing factory. Students as well as faculty members found the visit to be very informative and convenient from location point of view. It also created a much-needed awareness about plastic recycling and environment conservation.

This year, students of TYBSc (Food Science & Nutrition) organized their product development market -- titled as-- “Nutraholic Food Market” on 14th of March 2019 from 12 pm onwards on campus grounds. It was a great opportunity for the students to develop their entrepreneurship skills and go about organizing a program—from preparing invitations to decorating the venue and marketing their product to customers. The aim of the food market was to offer a combination of good taste and nutrition to potential customers, and create awareness that nutritious food need not be boring or expensive. From snacks like iron rich, calcium rich, protein rich, gluten free, refreshing drinks and desserts, the crowd had a lot to chose from.

Students from FYBSc, SYBSc and TYBSc, along with their principal Prof. Aasia A. Radiowala and faculty members, went on an exhilarating –at the same time educational– 6-day industrial trip to the pink city of Jaipur in the pleasant weather of January ’19. Students got to visit the well-established textile industry of Jaipur, along with visits to dairy and handicraft units, amongst others. Apart from visits to industries, they also got a chance to explore the rich historical and cultural heritage of Jaipur through its magnificent palaces and forts. The trip was, indeed, as memorable and enriching as they come!
